Technology Nation graduates now can get a Harvard University certificate for free

The graduates of Technology Nation social education project now have the opportunity to get a free certificate from Computer Science 50 (CS50) at Harvard University for completing the course on edX. The first 23 certificates have been already awarded to the graduates from Cherkasy.

The CS50x course teaches students the basics of programming and in Ukraine is promoted by BrainBasket Foundation as a blended learning program in 36 cities throughout Ukraine. The certificates are granted to graduates who have successfully completed the course and presented their final project.

“The opportunity to get a free certificate from such a prestigious faculty of Harvard University will become an additional motivation to successfully complete the course and allows graduates to confirm their achievements. From now on, anyone who has already completed the course or is just about to start has this opportunity”, said Illia Onyshchenko, Program Director of the BrainBasket Foundation.

“From CS50’s whole team in Cambridge, Massachusetts, congratulations to CS50’s newest alumni in Ukraine,” said Professor David J. Malan of Harvard, CS50’s instructor. “We’re so pleased to have them join CS50’s community around the world.”

CS50x is a popular introductory course of Harvard University introducing students to the basics of computer science.

“The course helped found a strong knowledge base for further study of programming, along with the basis of code, a binary system and other aspects of programming. This lets me find myself – the direction in programming that appeals to me”, shared his thoughts Dmytro Vakulenko, the graduate of the project in Cherkasy.

Technology Nation is the largest social educational project in Ukraine on learning the basics of programming. This program allows everybody to get world-class IT education for free and learn the basics of the most popular programming languages, as well as give students a good basis for further study and employment in the IT sector. Since 2016 more than 4000 people took part in the project.

BrainBasket Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps Ukrainians to get educated in the field IT. BrainBasket was founded in 2014 with the vision of uniting the efforts of all IT industry players to facilitate training of 100 000 programmers by 2020.
