On October 20th, a master class on the development of mobile applications called “m-Service Master Class” was held at the base of the “Kryvyi Rih National University” in the framework of the “Meet and Code” initiative, which is supported in many countries of Europe. Previously, BrainBasket Foundation won a mini-grant for the Meet and Code initiative in Kryvyi Rih.
The event took place on a review of modern technologies of mobile application development, familiarity with the environment of visual programming under OS Android «App Inventor», creating own applications, communicating with IT-specialists of the city and many other interesting things.
40 students of 9-11 grades of the city’s schools and students of the Kryvyi Rih Mining and Electromechanical College of the “Kryvyi Rih National University” took part in the master class. The organizers of the event were teachers of the Department of Modeling and Software of the university. The master-class was held by mentors of the project – students of the senior courses from the Faculty of Information Technologies of the specialty “Software Engineering”.
The EU coding week takes place on October 7-22 and is based on the idea of the Young Counselors, the advisory group of the former EU European Commissioner for the Digital Agency Nelly Cruz and is supported by the EU Commission. The main goal of the European initiative Meet and Code, which is being implemented in Ukraine by SAP in partnership with the Resource Center GURT, is to involve children and young people in the digital world. As part of the initiative, the programming events will take place during the EU Coding Week from October 7 to 22, 2017.
