The BrainBasket Foundation won a mini-grant for the Meet and Code initiative in Kryvyi Rih. The class on programming will take place on October 20 in the Technology Nation project’s educational hub – City library for adults.
The main goal of the European initiative Meet and Code, which is being implemented in Ukraine by SAP in partnership with the Resource Center GURT, is to involve children and young people in the digital world. As part of the initiative, the programming events will take place during the EU Coding Week from October 7 to 22, 2017.
“For us, the organizers of the Meet and Code in Kryvyi Rih, it is important to show the boys and girls that they can grow from the users of the IT product to its creators. We want the children to find out how fascinating, exciting and their future profession in IT sphere can be fruitful, by implementing their project in the master class. Because IT specialist is not only a profession, it is a lifestyle”, Nonna Shapovalova, a mentor of the Technology Nation project in Krivoy Rog, said.
The Meet and Code initiative is implemented in many countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, and this year in Ukraine.
“Target audience of events are children and young people aged from 8 to 24 years. To show young people how interesting programming can be and how to use it to implement the boldest creative ideas – this is the goal of Meet and Code”, – stated on the website of the organizers.
